What is Breaking?

Breaking is the term predominantly utilized to refer to breakdancing. This dance form originated in New York during the 1970s. Its inclusion in the Olympics was motivated by the athletic nature of the dancers’ movements, which encompass spins, jumps, holds, and flips. Breaking shares similarities with hip-hop dance.

A dancer must attain proficiency in three fundamental styles: Top Rock, Down Rock, and Freeze

Rules of Breaking

  • Ther will be nine judges score for each dance style. They will give scored to watch five Abilities : technique, vocabulary, execution, musicality and originality.

  • Each category accounts for 20% of the final score.

Scoring (Breaking)

In the evaluation process, nine judges cast votes for two participants, referred to as Breakers, who are identified by their distinct colors: one in a red jersey and the other in a blue jersey. Each Breaker is required to compete in three rounds. During each round, the nine judges assign scores, which are subsequently tallied at the end of the round for both the red and blue Breakers. The Breaker with the highest score at the conclusion of the round is declared the winner. In order to achieve overall victory, one of the Breakers must secure at least two wins out of the three rounds in the competition.
