SKILLS OF KABADDI

OFFENSIVE SKILLS

The offensive skills employed by the raider are essential for scoring points.

TOE TOUCH IN KABADDI #PROKABBADI

Toe Touch:

To execute this maneuver, the raider first pushes the opponent into a corner and then positions their toe close to the opponent’s toe to score a toe touch point.

Running Hand Touch:

In this technique, the raider targets the right corner of the opponent’s court while keeping an eye on the left-side catcher. When the raider observes that the defenders on the left side and middle chain are close and ready to catch him, he attempts to touch the opponent with his hand while running, achieving what is known as the running hand touch.

LION JUMP #PROKABADDI

Lion Jump:

When a raider feels cornered by opposing players, he performs a lion jump over the defender. This is a highly energetic and athletic skill, comparable to a gymnastics floor jump.

BACK KICK #PROKABADDI

Back Kick:

Also known as the mule kick, this technique involves the raider pushing the opponent into a corner, then turning his back and kicking while running to deceive the defender.

SIDE KICK #PROKABADDI

Side Kick:

When the raider sees defenders very close on one side, he executes a side kick to score a point, ensuring to maintain balance on one leg.

DUBKI IN KABADDI #PROKABADDI

Dubki:

The dubki occurs when a raider identifies a gap between two defending players. He bows his head and maneuvers underneath their outstretched arms to evade capture.

DEFENSIVE SKILLS

In kabaddi, defensive skills are equally important as attacking skills. The purpose of defensive techniques is to apprehend the raider to secure points and to disrupt the raid.

  1. Ankle Hold

  2. Block Technique

  3. Chain Tackle

  4. Dash

  5. Thigh Hold

  6. Waist Hold

Ankle Hold

The defender secures the ankle of the raider as the latter attempts to advance by employing attacking techniques such as the bonus line touch, toe touch, lateral kick, and backward kick.

Block Technique :-

In this defensive strategy, the left-side player covers the raider while the right-side player moves toward the end line of the playing area. This approach is designed to allow the raider an opportunity to penetrate deeply into the bonus line. Subsequently, they can then block the raider’s return to their own court.

SIDE KICK #PROKABADDI

Chain Tackle :-

In this technique, all seven players form a chain of 2-2-2-1 by holding hands and attempt to push or capture the raider.

Dash technique in kabaddi #prokabaddi

Dash :-

It is the ability to effectively expel the raider from the court, necessitating a refined technique in pushing as well as considerable arm strength.

Thigh Hold :-

In this skill, the defending player secures the raider’s thigh with both hands to prevent him from crossing the midline.

Waist Hold :-

This skill closely resembles the thigh hold, as in this technique, the defender individually secures the raider’s waist and attempts to push him downward to the ground.
