Meaning of Baddha Konasana

This words come from the Indiana Sanskrit Philosophy of Yoga Science. The meaning of the Baddha is bound and Kone meaning is angle and asana meaning is the posture. In the Indian history Cobbler repair the shoes and slippers in this position. He fold the both legs and hold the shoes between the palm of foot. Cobbler hold the thread in one hand and in other hand he hold the sewing needle to stitch the shoe.

How to perform Baddha Konasana

  1. Sit straight and both legs stretch in front.
  2. Both legs should be parallels and relaxed.
  3. Fold Right leg straight towards the pubis or center of navel.
  4. Fold the Left leg same ways towards the pubis and center of navel.
  5. Join both the sole togethers and stretch the both legs.
  6. Now hands go backward. 
  7.  Fingers pointed away from you and opposite side.
  8. Role your shoulder and push back your palm.
  9. Chest will be open in front direction.
  10. foot will be automatically join together.
  11. In this position when you inhale then neck and spine should be straight.
  12. After this exhale the breath and relax your thigh muscle, spine and neck.
  13. Practice this asana 10 to 15 times in starting.
  14. After completing this asana, First of all release the both hands. Now straight the right and left leg in front direction.
  15. Relax in this position to shake their both legs.
