What is Anulom Vilom

The meaning of the Anulom is the natural and breathing is also a natural process. No one teach us how to breath. Vilom means opposite of an activity.    

 

Difference between Anulom Vilom and Nadi Shodhana.

In Anulom and Vilom practitionr not apply the Kumbhaka after inhaling but in Nadi Shodhana Kumbhaka will be applied, so that Anulom Vilom not counted as a pranayama. Its a Cleansing Process of Nostrils.

How to perform

1. To perform this Pranayama, First of all sit in any comfortable position. Your Backbone should be straight. Your left arms in resting position in Gyan Mudra on the left knees.

2. Close your eyes and concentration on breathing.

3. First of all Put your Index finger on the last line (Root) of the thumb .

4. Thumb and middle finger will use to close the nostrils.

5. Press the right nostril with the help of thumb and inhale from the left nostril.

6. After this close the left nostril with help of middle finger.

7. Take off the thumb from right nostril and exhale from right side.

8. Now , Reverse this process. Take breath from the right nostril and close with the thumb.

9. Take off the middle finger and exhale from the left nostril.

10. INAHEL LEFT – EXHALE RIGHT, INHALE RIGHT – EXHALE LEFT.

11. Strat breathing from the left and in last exhale breathing from the left its mean this process will be start and on left nostril.

precautions

  1. Always practice empty stomach.
  2.  In staring perform 5 to 10 times.
  3.  Before to inhale full exhale the breath.
  4. Upper portion of the body should not move during inhaling.
We have two channels of the nose that’s called nostrils. It’s used for inhaling and exhaling.
