What is Chandra Bhedi meaning?

As we all know the moon is called Chandra in hindi and Bhedan is called Piercing (Sharp Pricking). 

Astrologer also explained Moon is related with feeling of the Human Being.  Moon maintain the mental and the emotional power in a person. In the same way we have seen in the morning, we start our work with high energy and power  but in evening when we tired then we felt to take rest and sleep. Our Right Nostril is called Surya and left Nostril is called Chandra Nadi. Here in this pranayama Bhedan means  to reduce the body heat.

how to perform

1. To perform this Pranayama, First of all sit in any comfortable position. Your Backbone should be straight. Your left arms in resting position in Gyan Mudra on the left knees.

2. Close your eyes and concentration on breathing.

3. First of all Put your Index finger on the last line (Root) of the thumb .

4. Thumb and middle finger will use to close the nostrils.

5. Press the right nostril with the help of thumb

6. Inhale from the left nostril.

7. After this close the left nostril with help of middle finger.

8. Now both nostrils are closed .

8. Hold the breath for five seconds (Kumbhaka).

7. Take off the thumb from right nostril and exhale from right side.

8. Again repeat the same process. We only inhale from the left nostril and after apply the kumbhaka exhale from the right nostril.

precautions

  1. Low blood pressure patient avoid this pranayama practice.
  2. If you have regular problem of cold then avoid the practice.
  3.  Don’t perform together Chandra Bhedi and Surya Bhedi Pranayama.
  4. Don’t perform empty stomach.
  5. It should be a gap of four hours if you had meal.
