What is Speed, how to get Speed in Sports

In the term of science speed is related with distance covered by the object in a time period. The formula of speed is s= d/t. Average speed is equal to total distance covered in total time taken by an object but in sports speed is the most important motor fitness component for every player and the definition of speed is, “Speed in human body motion from one point to another point in a fraction of second”. If a boxer punches to the opponent then his position of hands and the position of feet both will change in a few seconds to attack. In cricket a batsman needs to take quick action to hit a ball to move their hands and feet in a short time period. In the starting we have explained each motor fitness component is related with the other motor fitness component just like if a person needs to run fast, he needs power, strength, flexibility and Neuro-muscular coordination.  Speed can’t be improved in a day. To improve speed a player required a specific training programme. Speed also depends upon the muscle fibers of the body. Players have two types of muscle twitch fibers

  • Slow – Twitch muscle
  • Fast – Twitch muscle

Each and every athlete first of all recognised muscle fibres of his body. If an athlete has fast twitch fibres, he will run fast but muscle fatigue faster. On the other hand, slow twitch fibres athletes have long endurance power. They can run long distance races. Speed is the physical fitness component and it’s also most important as other components are the demand of the body. Speed has categories in different forms. Slow speed and fast speed. According to the aerobic and anaerobic factors also the part of speed. Speed requires a specific training and this training has so many types that is Conditioning, Sprint, Acceleration, Acceleration with power, Sprint, Short distance and long distance sprint, Plyometrics exercise, Resistance training, over speed training. Weight training is also required to improve speed. Speed is the common natural fitness component but it can be developed through training. Speed is also divided in so many groups just like speed endurance training. Send running is also used to improve the speed, a player ties up the weight on the shoulder with the help of the belt and then runs forward. He required more power and this is the best fitness workout to improve speed endurance. In the gym, players workout with weight bars to keep it on the shoulder and start stepping. It also improved the legs, muscles and speed of a player. Speed improvement needs time; a player needs months and years to gain a good speed. Speed mostly depends upon the power of the legs and the swings of the hands. In the air birds fly with the speed when they swing their feathers with speed in the air. In the same way a player needs to swing their hand in the air to get maximum speed. Tracks also converted to new technology. First of all the athlete runs on the grass track and now it’s converted to synthetic track it’s too costly. This also a reason for athlete performance: those are practising on the grass track and after this give performance on the synthetic track. There is a difference in timing between players. Player spikes also play an important role on the synthetic track. Formal shoes do not work on this track because spikes nail push up to the body and due to friction with the ground it also helps to gain speed.

What is Cardiovascular Endurance?

The term cardiovascular is related with the heart and the blood vessels of the body and endurance means a power of performance in challenging time periods.

What is Flexibility?

Flexibility can judge the bending movement and the motion. In other words, we can say the range of the moments from a point to another point.

agility means moves quickly

What is Agility?

It is the ability to move quickly and fast from one direction to another direction.

What is Reaction Time?

It is a gap of timing between the stimulation and the movement of objects.

What is Muscular Power?

Muscular power is the power of the muscle which generates power to complete a task.

What is Balance?

The means of balance is stability for the duration of an object. Mostly the balance of the object depends upon the center of the gravity.

What is Explosive Strength?

Explosive strength is also depending upon the combination of muscle and the mind. In explosive strength we require speed strength to complete the movement.

What is Speed?

What is Conditioning?

In the term of science speed is related with distance covered by the object in a time period. The formula of speed is s= d/t.

warmup in sports

What is Warm-up?

Before starting a physical activity, a person is required to warm their body with different types of activities or exercise.

What is Fitness?

The fitness can be explained through a word “vigorous”. Lot of Author explain the word fitness, but it can’t be a definition of fitness.
